A friend sent me information about a great online resource for  findin
older books, as downloadable PDFs: http://www.archive.org

My interests lay mainly in the cultures of Northern Europe and the
Atlantic Islands.  So, in my first raid I gained all four volumes of
Grimm's "Teutonic Mythology" ( a bit over 200 meg), "The Mythology of
Britain and Ireland" by Charles Squires (5.4 meg) and "The History of
Ancient Vinland" by Thormod Torfason (10.4 meg).

The 4 Grimm volumes took several minutes each over cable modem.

A search for Norse Mythology yielded 38 hits.

A search for Norse History yielded 15 hits.

These are color PDFs, unlike Google books, which are lowe resolution BnW scans.

If anyone likes what they see, but has a real slow connecion, email
me.  I'd be glad to download the book for you and burn a CD thereof.

Also, it looks like I may have some time to stop by the
sewing/armoring session this weekend.  I have a good design for a
plastic basket hilt, which will stand up to punch blocking a baseball
bat.
