[Great Hall of Rockwall] Lorriedel update

Lorriedel (Lady Koko) was essentially kicked out of the hospital (NIMC in
McHenry) on Thursday. She fired the cardiologist assigned to her case after
he insisted on her getting a stress test that even he said she didn't really
need. In order to have this test, Lorriedel had to go without food or water
(NPO) for 12 hours. Those 12 hours strangely stretched into over 15, which
resulted in her blood sugar plummeting, after which she spiked a fever and
passed out for a few minutes. When she came to, she canceled the test and
ordered some food. Shortly after that, she was told that her lungs were
clear (despite the coughing and hacking stuff up) and discharged.

Unfortunately throughout this mess, Lorriedel regular doc was out of town at
a conference. He returned on Friday, and she got an appointment to see him
Saturday. If he didn't like what he saw, or thought that she needed more
tests, he was planning to admitting her to Good Shepard in Barrington, where
he has privileges. Thankfully, the doctor decided that another hospital stay
was unnecessary at this time. He diagnosed her with a bad case of viral
bronchitis (previously he thought it was bacterial bronchitis). The
difference between the 2? Bacterial can be treated with antibiotics. Viral
can only be treated with rest and time.

So, Lorriedel is back at home, under orders to take cough syrup and rest as
much as possible. And of course, Sam the dog is thrilled to have his mom
back home. Chances are good that she and Daniel will not be able to join us
on Saturday. Unless it's through the magic of a cell phone set on
"loudspeaker".

If there's anything anybody needs from her or Daniel, please let me know and
I'll make arrangements to bring it with me. And thanks to for the positive
energy and mental hugs I know you guys have been sending. You're the best!

Love,
Edda
