in my haste to respond while still half asleep I didn't reply to the
list, so...

Kids' meals are easy. White bread, PB&J, chips, soda/lemonade. Voila.
Or, hot dogs and mac'n'cheese. Either one they'll be happy with. In my
experience the simple OFFERING of kids' meals is enough to have
parents bowing at one's feet.

I have an 18qt roaster with no lid that we can use for serving, and if
we cover it with foil it can certainly be used for heating. (The lid
went AWOL at the Coronation back in '01...)

Remember, we've done a full three-course feast (four dishes per
course) for 150+ by cooking ahead (28 pies, dozens of ravioli, gallons
of stew...) over the course of a month or so. It *can* be done. It
ain't easy, but it can be done--and people gape when they find out
*how*.

And considering what I was originally told (by the autocrat in the
first early emails she sent me) we should consider serving (brats,
chips, brownies, soda)--I think we've already raised this bar
considerably. :-)
